ACCIDENTAL TRUTH: A MUST-SEE EVENT

I was able to finally view this documentary. Adding it to a longer list of "must see's" and being able to cross it off I can now comment on the documentary. I will say that I would encourage everyone - skeptic to true believer. It has the potential of bringing both from extreme ends of the spectrum to a middle ground were real dialogue - and research - can be conducted.

Much of the programs available suffer from low quality, overly dramatic presentations, lack of balance and/or criteria and a sensationalist approach to the topic. Accidental Truth, on the other hand, has an almost clinical, but engaging, approach similar to building a case in a court of law. Step by step the viewer is led to understand

High quality production values, a lack of hyperbole, and evidence of solid research earned high marks.

Do put this documentary on your to-do list.

New Documentary proves UFO Secrecy…

Narrated by Matthew Modine

Released Digitally on April 18, 2023

Written and directed by Ron James. Distributed by 1091.

Presented by MUFON Television

SEDONA, Ariz., May 3, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — “Accidental Truth, UFO Revelations” is a breakthrough documentary about UFOs that is narrated by legendary actor Matthew Modine. The film features prominent scientists and unexpected government insiders revealing facts about secret programs studying technology and materials recovered from anomalous incidents, and what they discovered.

“Accidental Truth” presents a trail of elusive government paperwork, supported by sometimes reluctant and even “accidental” admissions by a first-rate cast of “those in the know.”

Critics from The Debrief said the film makes “The best case yet for crash retrievals and non-human interaction, a UFO film we can recommend.” The film presents nearly 70 years of information, delivered through revealing research and sometimes poignant exchanges with the film’s cast.

Filmmaker Ron James, who is also the Media Relations Director for MUFON, The Mutual UFO Network, had this to say: “We make the most compelling case for the UFO cover-up ever presented in a single documentary.  The history of the deception is being washed away by the current narrative, and we are stopping that from happening”

Narrator, Actor Matthew Modine said, “This is an important Film, and I was really happy to be a part of it.” Modine’s narration has already won a festival award for narration.  The film overall has won 9 festival and competition awards.

“Accidental Truth – UFO Revelations” is being called “a masterpiece” and “one of the best UFO documentaries of all time” by early reviewers. It is available across all the normal digital platforms such as Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Google Play, etc.

ABC's of Reporting Something Seen

People reporting - in detail - what they have seen is crucial to understanding what is happening in Earth's skies and orbit.  Surveys of social media, however, reveal that people are hesitant about reporting - even to recognized UFO groups.  Two reasons are often expressed.

1) People refrain from reporting because "I reported, and nobody came out to investigate."

a. Not all groups have the volunteer power to send out people for every report. A triage approach is often used to classify the type of report submitted (low priority to a high priority and levels in between).  One person may have to deal with hundreds of reports with no help and thus the problem is clear.  Although every witness believes what they saw was exciting, rare, and highly strange it often can only be categorized in a most general "strange lights in sky" file of other reports lacking details.

b. Not enough information was included in the report to identify location, time, descriptions, etc. Often no names were given and no contact information. This makes it impossible to verify that the report is not a hoax or submitted by someone with an agenda contrary to real investigations.

2) People refrain, and urge others to refrain, claiming groups merely ignored them, swept it under the rug, or were dupes of the government.

a. There are currently about four groups (government and private) where people can file a report of something unusual. Instead of telling people to not use "X" - do urge them to use "Y" or "Z." To NOT do this makes the person appear mean spirited or having some kind of grudge. Neither is beneficial for research.

So - keep reporting, recognize that volunteer groups are limited by the number of volunteers they do not have, and consider volunteering to learn and do more.

In our present culture there is a tendency to not read, do research, or study.

People seek "crowd source" answers - and you never know how smart or dumb the crowd might be.

Simply because many believe one thing or another does not mean that is truth.

Just because someone has a video on some social media platform does not mean they are not as crazy as a bat. So often the alleged "conspiracies" are simply ideas that arose as someone refused to let  the facts speak.  Hidden agendas, politics, troublemaking... Sources must be validated, tested and measured against the wider expanse of proven history or scientific fact.

Friday the 13th, 2023 - Sighting

Location: Oklahoma Co., Oklahoma (eastern). On 1-40 Interstate heading west, just past the merger of I-40 and Kickapoo Turnpike. Traveling to Texas to observe the Solar Eclipse.

Time: Approx 7:25 a.m.

Date: Friday, Oct. 13, 2023

Conditions: Mostly clear sky with some low, scattered and thin clouds. Heavier clouds further east obscuring sunrise slightly but sky was bright.

Observer was in the passenger seat with a clear view of the north and west skies. An intensely bright white light caught her attention. At first she thought it was either a planet or star but then decided it was too large and too bright. Second was the idea it might be a plane with landing lights on but as the object appeared to be moving in the same general westerly direction she was able to closely note that the object did not reflect light but rather created its own light. No landing lights were seen. No other colors than that intense bright light.

When she observed the object, the shape was cube-like or square. When she saw it pass in front of one of those low clouds, she realized it was not a satellite, ISS, or a planet/star.

Her phone, at the time, was turned off and she knew she could not turn it on and focus in time to probably catch a clear image. So, she concentrated on watching it.  As she watched, she observed the initial "square" like seem to double, as if one was on the other side, only slightly off to the side. Then she observed that it elongated to become more "rectangular" than square or cube. Then it seemed to become almost elastic-like and appeared to stretch and reform itself. Finally, it was another cube or square, only slightly larger.

At that time, the object disappeared. It was there one minute and then gone the next. Scanning the skies revealed no objects anywhere in any direction.

Color: Self-illuminating brilliant white light. Not a reflection but light.

Size: Its apparent size ranged from the size of a BB to a small pea, if held at arm's length.

Lights: Despite long observation (3-5 minutes) no other colors could be seen. No regulation reds, greens, blues, or amber lights. No required dangling flags for low altitude drones.

Research: In trying to determine what it was the tracking information on ISS was checked with information the space station was not in the area to be seen (and was larger than an earlier experience seeing the space station pass), the BLUEWALKER3 satellite. yet examining their tracker info and viewing online videos of its movements it was large but too slow for the object observed. Additionally, Falcon 9/Starlink had no launches the day before or that morning (they had one that night...SpaceX launches Falcon 9 rocket carrying 22 Starlink satellites on its second Friday launch – Spaceflight Now)

The following sketch was made after the sighting.

1. The initial square or cube form

2. The doubling image

3. The elongating image

4. The twisting like movement  image

5. The final and larger square.

Time to Update the Classifications?

Noted researcher J. Allen Hynek, in his 1972 book " The UFO Experience: A Scientific Inquiry," laid out the three classes of "close encounters:"

  • Close encounter of the first kind: Someone simply observes a UFO but it leaves no evidence. Hynek acknowledged that many sightings were of the "light" in the sky variety. He divided them into daylight lights and nocturnal lights.
  • Close encounter of the second kind: A UFO leaves physical traces it was present, such as burns on the ground or broken branches.
  • Close encounter of the third kind: A person makes contact with a UFO or other life form.
Since then, CE 4 - 7 have been toyed with but do not have a strong consensus.
  • Close encounters of the fourth kind: A close encounter of the fourth kind is one in which a human is abducted by an extraterrestrial.
  • Close encounters of the fifth kind: A close encounter of the fifth kind is one in which there is bilateral contact with an extraterrestrial entity. Many attempt to use intentional thought  (or lights) to instigate contact.
  • Close encounters of the sixth kind: A close encounter of the sixth kind entails a UFO or its inhabitants directly causing injury or death. Many feel this should be under the CE-2 classification as such actions would be trace evidence.
  • Close encounters of the seventh kind: A close encounter of the seventh kind is one in which a human and extraterrestrial mate to produce a hybrid being.
CE1-The Kindergarten level of witness sightings. But a basic body of necessary information should be within the capabilities of all witnesses. Time, date, geographic location, direction of movement, shapes, colors, sounds, speed estimates, environmental conditions (raining, foggy, etc.). Witnesses should be encouraged to not let the video or photo say it all but explain the context through the elements mentioned.
CE2- Trace elements - broken branches, indentations of objects, burn marks, odd residues should be handled with care.  Do not get too close so the area is not contaminated and you are not contaminated as well. Contact law enforcement but also take photos, sketch the scene, collect eyewitness statements, etc. Report to MUFON as well.
CE3- Making contact involves touching a craft or speaking to an alien lifeform.
CE4-Again, due to the problems of fear of ridicule and trauma, these are seldom reported and usually with little evidence or witness statement value.
CE5- Hard to investigate because little data collection is being utilized. Instead, a focus on metaphysical, philosophical or spiritual aspects drive this approach and science and record keeping are not as important. Such experiential events seldom allow room for data collection, testing, and solutions.
CE6- Hard to investigate due to the probability of such actions being classified or guarded by agencies and groups due to issues of safety and health.
CE7- Hard to investigate. This would involve the need for DNA, blood, and trace evidence of many types to be studied by scientists from several fields.

The Proof in the Pudding: 1977 to Today

Television watchers in southern England, November 1977, had their evening news interrupted by a strange broadcast...

Was it a hoax? No one has ever been identified as the source? The content of the message has led many to wonder if it was - real.

Were we warned---

Here is a link to the audio interruption and the transcript. txfeatures.mb21.co.uk/hannington/spacemessage-offair.mp3

"This is the voice of Vrillon, a representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command, speaking to you.

  • For many years you have seen us as lights in the skies. We speak to you now in peace and wisdom as we have done to your brothers and sisters all over this, your planet Earth.
  • We come to warn you of the destiny of your race and your world so that you may communicate to your fellow beings the course you must take to avoid the disaster which threatens your world, and the beings on our worlds around you. This is in order that you may share in the great awakening, as the planet passes into the New Age of Aquarius.

  • The New Age can be a time of great peace and evolution for your race, but only if your rulers are made aware of the evil forces that can overshadow their judgments. Be still now and listen, for your chance may not come again.
  • All your weapons of evil must be removed. The time for conflict is now past and the race of which you are a part may proceed to the higher stages of its evolution if you show yourselves worthy to do this. You have but a short time to learn to live together in peace and goodwill. Small groups all over the planet are learning this, and exist to pass on the light of the dawning New Age to you all. You are free to accept or reject their teachings, but only those who learn to live in peace will pass to the higher realms of spiritual evolution.
  • Hear now the voice of Vrillon, a representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command, speaking to you. Be aware also that there are many false prophets and guides at present operating on your world. They will suck your energy from you – the energy you call money and will put it to evil ends and give you worthless dross in return. Your inner divine self will protect you from this.
  • You must learn to be sensitive to the voice within that can tell you what is truth, and what is confusion, chaos and untruth. Learn to listen to the voice of truth which is within you and you will lead yourselves onto the path of evolution.
  • This is our message to our dear friends. We have watched you growing for many years as you too have watched our lights in your skies. You know now that we are here, and that there are more beings on and around your Earth than your scientists admit. We are deeply concerned about you and your path towards the light and will do all we can to help you. Have no fear, seek only to know yourselves, and live in harmony with the ways of your planet Earth.
  • We here at the Ashtar Galactic Command thank you for your attention. We are now leaving the planes of your existence. May you be blessed by the supreme love and truth of the cosmos."
Was it real though?

Things to note. The emphasis on the "New Age of Aquarius" was very much part of the nomenclature of Earth at the time. This was a time when "channeling" was emerging and people were connecting with past lives, other beings, and departed relatives.

The metaphysical terms of "vibrations", "planes', and "energy" were also commonplace as the "New Age" bloomed everywhere. The language is stilted and reflects much of the syntax used in the spiritualist movement of the late 1890's.

The focus on an inner divine light is similarly connected to spiritualism and to the early contactee movements (and their connections to known con artists and the like).

The fact it apparently only appeared on British television is another questionable point. Such a "galactic command" would surely have made sure the broadcast reached every culture and in every language?

WHERE TO START: BEST INSTRUCTORY DOCUMENTARIES ON UFO-UAP TOPICS

I frequently see requests for people looking for places to "learn more" on the
phenomenon referred to as "UFOs" or "UAPs" and they often list titles that are not the best in quality, evidence,  or scientific representation.

The following are ones I highly recommend based on all of those points. They avoid the "tinfoil hat" brigade and approach the subject with cool, rationale, and evidence-based tactics.

BEST UFO/UAP DOCUMENTATIES

The Phenomenon,  ((2020)/ James Fox Directed. his documentary examines unidentified aerial phenomenon. With testimony from high-ranking government officials, and NASA Astronauts, Senator Harry Reid says it "makes the incredible credible."

UFOs: 50 Years of Denial? (1997), James Fox Directed. This documentary aims to demystify the controversial phenomenon of UFOs and offers explosive information about some of the biggest cover-ups of the last century. From Roswell to Area 51, former government officials, astronauts and military experts offer firsthand accounts of their experiences with the unknown.

I Know What I Saw (2014). James Fox Directed.

Moment of Contact (2022) - / Is an exploration of extraterrestrial encounters centered on a series of events in 1996 when citizens of Varginha, Brazil, reported seeing a UFO crash and one or more strange creatures. James Fox Director.

Out of the Blue (2003).  The definitive investigation on the UFO phenomenon narrated by Peter Coyote.

A Tear in the Sky (2022) – IMDb/ This award-winning documentary A Tear in the Sky takes you on an unprecedented journey into the UFO / UAP phenomenon.

The UFO Phenomena (2021) - It is now beyond doubt that strange, anomalous objects filling our skies and caught on camera are the real deal. Even the Pentagon admits it’s true. These seemingly intelligently controlled craft are operating above the clouds, in our oceans and in our orbit – travelling at hypersonic speeds far beyond any known human technology and completing maneuvers unknown to science. The subject of conspiracy and derision for years, UFOs are now the hottest topic in Washington and the world.  Five-time Walkley Award-winning investigative journalist Ross Coulthart – who has been investigating the phenomena for the past two years – led the 7NEWS Spotlight team across the US, amassing never-before-seen compelling evidence and speaking to the key players behind an event that will change the course of history. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sm6AL5lA4Zc&t=278s

Historic Early Works

UFO: The True Story…Documentary (1956) - UFO (full title: Unidentified Flying Objects: The True Story of Flying Saucers) is a 1956 American semi-documentary about the development of the UFO phenomenon in the United States. Clips from the documentary have often been used in other UFO documentaries and television episodes related to UFOs.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bGTLtdwPHM

It is a Blessing and a Curse: Starlink and UAP Research (2023)

Modern life demands easy, cheap, and reliable internet connectivity. Realities of terrain limitations, company infrastructures, and financial demands have created dead zones. The modern attitude has moved away from being chained to a desk with a computer screen, cpu, and accessories to being mobile and immediate. The STARLINK system has been the solution - involving the launching of at least 12,000 small satellite units to form grids around the globe to support the need for strong, reliable and immediate connectivity.

On the pro side is that it should be more reliable, immediate, accessible and inexpensive.  The negative side is that it will limit the natural resource of the dark sky, weave a web of artificial communication systems around the planet, and have the potential to be the next "coal mines" "oil rigs", "toxic waste", and "wind farm" environmental disasters. Plus, anyone who ever saw the movie "Terminator" with its underlying story of a satellites and AI eliminating humanity....has to get a chill with the running amuck of a grid of satellites and an evolving AI already in existence that lacks any ethical or moral guidelines.

Now, with the increased interest in sky watching to see UAPs the fact that people are not as engaged with real time events as they might be is clearly evident. Lacking the authoritative forces of past generations - (1) a vetted, balanced, and researched newspaper or news source, (2) quality, current, and accessible local library resources and professionals, and (3) a trustworthy, public good focused, government, the results are dismaying.  Information is found via asking friends or group members which often results in the blind leading the blind. Information searching is avoided in favor of disseminated information (I won't read about it - just tell me). Deep complexities are avoided and the demand is for a simple, easy answer that requires no thought, evidence comparison, or hearing opposing views.

Thus -

People keep reporting these strange strings of lights in the sky. What are they? Even when they are explained away there is often something that they refuse to accept.

Tracking apps are being reported as not reporting sightings in an area. Not all apps are equal and they might be  overwhelmed by the sheer number of objects being launched. The sats are a money-making component of the companies' broader plans after all.

  • As of February 2023, there are over 3,580 Starlink satellites in orbit.
  • Of these, 3,236 are operational.
  • SpaceX has launched over 4,000 Starlink satellites into space.
  • Nearly 12,000 satellites are planned to be deployed, with a possible later extension to 42,000.

What was the "LA" in the FBI Memo of 1947?

The days preceding and following what is coyly referred to as "The Roswell Incident" the military (apparently led in part by Schulgen) were covertly investigating the many reports of odd things in the skies. The FBI, because of the real threat of Soviet covert operations, was equally curious. Since no one seemed to know what they were....the curiosity intensified.

Schulgen, already involved in some top secret work related to some special projects, was selected to follow up on an idea.  The FBI had the "legs" in the form of field investigators and the military did not have a wide scale investigative element capable at the time of the type of vetting required to sort the wheat from the chaff of all those reports. Could perhaps the FBI lend the military a hand?  J. Edgar Hoover and his directors had been burned before through military stonewalling...he was therefore cautious and agreed on specific grounds.

a-memo-FBI-hoover-handwriting-good-above.jpg (1438×1833) (luforu.org)

There is one telling line that has raised questions for decades.
"For instance in the La case the Army grabbed it and would not let us have it..."

Since a little earlier in the month there had been a deliberate hoax in Shreveport, Louisiana, many assume that is the case referred to by JEH. Although the "La" was a traditional abbreviation for Louisiana in the time, might it be something else? JEH was inconsistent in many of his shortcuts in his notes. For one thing, the FBI did, apparently, get information about the Shreveport "disc" - made as a practical joker there. Similarly, other similar hoaxes had been accessible to them as well from numerous records.

Could it be that the "La" referred not to a recent case but from nearly six years previously?  The Battle of Los Angeles on 25 February 1942.

The event was classified as "war nerves": that did not say much about the 12,000 air raid wardens, the 37th Coast Artillery Brigade antiaircraft batteries, and the 4th Interceptor Command, as well as local law enforcement and many others. Over 1,430 rounds of antiaircraft shells were expended, including 12 8-pound shells.  Reports from the field by Herald Express newspaper staff indicated they had eyewitnesses among the reporters of shells hitting the "object" directly - but nothing was shot down.  The image below shows the familiar image from the newspaper. Searchlights are focused on the strong light mass in the center. Above it shells are exploding. Darkened, the image highlights the sense of a "something" in the core heart of the beams.

In 1974 under provisions of a FOIA request a 1942 memo came to light. Written by George C. Marshall, Chief of Staff, and sent to President Roosevelt on 26 February 1942, there were some fascinating facts...

Unidentified airplanes were "probably" fired upon over Los Angeles (LA), This statement verifies the number of rounds fired and by what Brigade,

As many as "fifteen" of those unidentified (they were not Army or Navy planes) may have been involved flying at various speeds (slow to 200 mph) and altitudes of 9,000 to 10,000 feet.

*No bombs were dropped.

*No causalities among US troops

*No planes were shot down

*No American Army or Navy planes were in action

A note on the speed estimate indicates that the report may have ignored an eyewitness driving near Douglas Aircraft Company near Pasadena and ordered to park and douse his lights by an Air Raid Warden. He observed "bright red spots of lights" low on the horizon to the south - moving in an odd manner. The lights were zig-zagging low to the ground at about 10,000 feet. The witness, Paul T Collins, indicated he could see different batteries firing and the red objects caught in the process - moving in and around the bursting shells at incredible speed. He estimates about "five miles per second."   He noted from the position he and others were, they could not see the "enormous UFO" because it was probably below their horizon, but they did see the fast paced, and mobile, red lights objects.

"Prior to the release of the Marshall memorandum, the Department of Defense state that they had no record of the event."  The contradictions of timelines, descriptions, the insulting classification of serious and trained military and civilians as frightened and trigger-happy causes one to consider that there was a coverup involved.... (See Timothy Good's ABOVE TOP SECRET for more of the early events of the modern era).

So- was JEH referring to a Louisiana case of a prankster?  Or, was he referring to perhaps some still concealed event of that earlier Battle of Los Angeles?

Interview

Yesterday I was interviewed by an ABC news affiliate in Oklahoma (KOCO) about my UFO books, research, and the stories I uncovered. The setting could not have been better, the "Office of Clark Kent" in the Spirit of America Route 66 Museum in Stroud, Oklahoma. Thanks to Museum owner and director, Steve Brant.

The modern moment of UFO/UAP activities and study needs the "truth and justice" of America's "favorite alien"....and his alter ego of Clark Kent. As an ex- newspaper stringer....and a small part of a larger disclosure process...I felt right at home.

Evidence Ignored: The South American Roswell of 1957

The year that saw a man-made satellite launched was also a strange year with vast areas of the planet reporting a) UFOS over military installations, b) interference with electrical systems of cars, planes, and other equipment and c) wide spread reports from several countries in the same windows of time. It was also, by the way, the 10 ear anniversary of the "non-event" at Roswell.  The one where paper thin and harder than metal debris were held and collected.

Oddly, in 1957 the big complaint was the lack of hard physical evidence to support the theory of interplanetary visitors.

Into that void stepped a medical doctor from Brazil, Dr. Olavo T Frontes, who followed up on a snippet of story concerning a UFO, an explosion, and falling debris. The debris site was near Ubotuba, San Paulo, Brazil. Two men out fishing in the daytime saw a glowing disc appear to crash-diving into the water. At the last minute, it nosed straight up and exploded. Raining down were bits of debris.  The men gathered some of this: metallic looking but so lightweight it was amazing.

Read the technical report of analysis done of the debris : ubatubatd (nicap.org).  Also, The Ubatuba Incident - A UFO Exploded in 1957 with Fragments? - Strange Strange Strange AND the Condon Report of their exploration at Ubatuba Incident - Condon (nicap.org).  The case still has many fascinating aspects and many unanswered questions.

The men notified a well-known radio personality who then in turn made contact with Dr. Fontes. He was a growing name in the study if UFOs in Brazil at the time. A member of A.P.R.O. he published several major studies in their newsletter. The purity levels of some materials found in the debris was troubling and apparently eliminated the idea of earth made objects or satellites as well as mere meteorite materials.

Fontes died in 1969 but left a legacy often ignored.  Here, ten years later, there was evidence and it matched in some descriptive elements that reported by witnesses at Roswell. A small sample sent to the Air Force was destroyed before testing was completed and APRO was reluctant to give them more and offered to co-study the material but never received a response to their offer.

Fontes, in taking charge and arranging the analysis and then publishing the results was a true scientific pioneer stepping where few had been willing to venture.

'THE THING' from Another World: What Was that in the Ice?

The two versions of the movie THE THING were inspired by a short story by Who Goes There? a 1938 novella by American author John W. Campbell, written under the pen name Don A. Stuart

The 1951 movie version The Thing: From Another World, was directed by Christian Nyby and Howard Hawks, screenplay written by Charles Lederer, John W. Campbell Jr., Howard Hawks.   The stars included Kenneth Tobey, Margaret Sheridan, James Arness (as the creature). The release date was April 7 1951. A later remake by John Carpenter will align itself more with the original story by Campbell and will be more dark and nihilistic in nature.

The original movie is a favorite for many based on its close ensemble cast of characters, the fast talking and natural patter between them, and the pace and dramatis evoked through film and soundtrack. For this writer. it was also the ending scene were the newspaper man is radioing back his story of the fight for humanity at the North Pole.  He urged people to "watch the skies."

Re-watching the film recently it was noticed that the head of the creature, the thing, varied from the way it looks in other scenes in the film.  Arness' makeup later in the film will be more reflective of the influence of "Frankenstein" than anything else.

The THING in the frozen slab of ice:

Note the large dark eyes - far more reflective of the image on the cover the novel Communion decades later!

The THING in a publicity still from 1951, aka James Arness:

Note the absence of the large dark eyes...

The question for this writer was - where did that image of large dark eyes originate?

This writer suspects that the concept was influenced by the rumors of just that type of creature from Roswell in 1947. Just prior to the film's release what was in the news was has come to be known as The Aztec, New Mexico UFO hoax  of a flying saucer's crash alleged to have happened in 1948 in Aztec, New Mexico. The story was first published in 1949 by author Frank Scully in his Variety magazine columns, and later in his 1950 book Behind the Flying Saucers.  There are many who believe in this crash and one at Kingman, Arizona. This author, however, feels that they were the result of an attempt to clamp down the lid over the events of Roswell.

At decade's end, many military and civilians may have begun to feel free to discuss events related to the Roswell Incident. Leaks and loose lips.  How to make dure those people were not believed?

The big gun in debunking has always been ridicule. The events of Aztec, so close but so incredibly contrived, too large, and just "off", coupled with shady con-men, insured that the story would not be believed and further call into question anyone who thought it was real.

So....the use of what would later be called "stereotypical abduction era" depiction of a big headed, big eyed alien, could be due to the influence of someone who knew...someone who had talked with someone at a cocktail party or over a meal of something they saw "once upon a time"...in the desert of New Mexico.

Decades later, before the book Communion, there will be witnesses who share images of big headed, large eyed creatures seen in connection with "flying saucers", "discs", and "UFOs."

So...the big eyed creature in the ice...where did that image come from and what was it intended to say?

OKC UFO JUNE 30-JULY 1 (2023)

A man I will call Anonymous "E" contacted UFO Skies. He had a report and a video.  His report was fascinating: "I saw a super bright orb Friday night, in the southeast Oklahoma City sky, throwing lasers with other orbs , with color red and green on each end of the lasers. The lasers seemed attached to the main orb. Freaking weird.  Then there were black helicopters in the sky. I was looking towards downtown and  the building with the triangle but the object was to the left. I'm originally from New Jersey and when I was 11, I saw a UFO on top of the Hudson River. "

He was asked if he might have seen fireworks, but he was certain what he saw were not fireworks. Then he said he had seen an object he saw "when I was on southwest 74st Street. It was daytime aa shiny silver. It stand still in the sky then just speed off super fast." Last, he sent a short video clip of an orb he had observed... Thank you Anonymous "E".

If you see something I encourage you to report to the MUFON webpage. They are busy collecting information to help prove the reality of what is being seen across the globe.

Synchronicity of March 13, 1997: Were the Phoenix Lights Only Part of a Larger Event?

A list of "coincidences" related to March 13, 1997, as shared by Lynne D. Kitel, M.D. in her work, The Phoenix Lights (Hampton Roads, pg. 100).

  • The U.S. Government went into DEF-CON 3 alert
  • Then President Clinton disappeared for hours to an undisclosed location
  • The battery on an crucial satellite used to detect incoming missiles went dead
  • Scientific American (July 1997) carried a story about bursts of gamma rays in our atmosphere from an unknown source.
In my own research I have seen numerous times that events did not occur in an vacuum. Sightings in one location were often mirrored in distant locales. A big picture seemed to be in play.  At times, it seems that only from space can the true scope of a series of events be understood.

Disclosure is a term in the news and in discussions in this field. Would we recognize disclosure when we tend to focus on just one aspect of a larger event and never step back to see what else may be going on?

Some things to consider as the topic moves forward...

Can we see the larger meaning of what is happening and understand the meaning?

THE ROAD TO NOWHERE: Destroying Disclosure

It has been said that the best way to destroy something is from within. This is the message of the story of the Trojan horse. It is also a familiar, yet well hidden tool, to subvert true investigation and progress in the area of UFOlogy. Let's look at some examples.

In the late 1950's there were approximately 500 or more UFO groups in the US alone. Some were based on the Contactee/Metaphysical views of the topic, some were based on a purely scientific examination of evidence and some a mix of both.

The first and last of those would eventually fade or break up remaining only in one or two lingering odd cults into the 2000's. The Contactee/Metaphysical view had merged with a growing drug culture by the 1970's causing many to drop away from the topic. Others, fell apart due to lack of funding, negative reports created in the wake of the Condon report, ridicule, and other similar reasons.

That leaves two of the major science based groups, NICAP and APRO, alone in the arena by late 1950's and through most of the 1960's.  Oddly, these two will collapse due to interior pressures that have led many to suppose they were infiltrated for the purposes of dismantling them. Some released government records appear to support that idea. That Trojan Horse approach. There were tensions of leadership, conflicting views on importance of data, needed goals, and necessary actions. The result was both would fold.

Fast forward to the 1990's and MUFON.  MUFON had emerged to occupy the void left in 1969 when Project Blue Book closed. In the decade of the 1990's there were concerns and rumors of infighting and other issues that included loss of records and reclassifications of previously accepted reports. The result many people - as witnessed by comments on bulletin boards, webpages, and in books - expressed a loss of trust in the organization to be objective and dedicated to the truth.  Currently, the organization has taken great strides to make sure reports are complete and through and investigated with a gratifying level of scientific yet open-minded professionalism from its volunteer field investigators.

Press that fast forward button again and it is today - now - with a new open attitude unlike anything since 1947.  Social media, online videos, podcasts, books, articles, and government hearings make the news and discussion highly accessible.

The result?  There is clearly a cadre of debunkers who seem to have a detailed task to troll such sites making negative comments or off hand debunking without examining the evidence or exploring the topic.  There are people who post videos of objects that appear to be designed to merely confuse the issue through fake cgi generated images, obvious misinterpretations of sky objects any sixth grader SHOULD be able to identify, or who hold a blanket acceptance anything they see or view on a video.  The presence of these in any four pages or comment blocks appears to be abnormally high.   Plus, the presence of "gotcha" trolls, ugly commentors, debunkers and the like seem abnormally high.

They are all unwilling to offer solid evidence or even to discuss their assaults. When pressed they often - turtle like - slink their heads back into their invisible online shells.

It is obvious from history that a successful tool to manipulate the topic of unknowns was the planting of individuals inside groups to cause disruption and bring about the destruction of the goals of the organization.  The field should be alert to the potential for that to be happening again, take measures to guard against in-fighting, to insure that open discussion is encouraged, and that all is done in an open and science-based manner to insure the best results.

Project Blue Book set the template: dazzle with science, dismiss with ridicule, and infiltrate to weaken.

It is time to be aware of the pattern and arrange the discussion in such a manner that we strive for the highest standards and hold one another there.

DISCLOSURE DRAMA

In the UAP community "disclosure" means the announcement that "yes, Virginia there is an Alien."

The expected norm for such actions has long been based on a false premise. An arriving alien entity would land on the White House lawn and announce themself to the world. This is, of course, based on the idea that the United States would be the world leader to contact.  Other scenarios, have conceived of the United Nations and others simply an orbiting presence sending messages of peace (or war).

Other academic disciplines have suggested that there is no intent to formally meet and negotiate a relationship.  Human history has shown that when a highly advanced technological society intersects with a less highly advanced society the result is always bad - for the lesser of the two.

These groups have suggested that scientists from another place in the universe might be observing human activity in the same way wildlife is studied on our own planet. Distance observation, non-interference, and tagging and/or sample taking as possible.

Since 1953 the U.S. government, and possibly other countries, have been informed by a research reports by both Batelle and Brookings about what "contact" would mean.

Such a contact with an advanced civilization or alien beings would wreck the orderly workings of society (laws, family life, and economy) , it would destroy religion by presenting a disconnect to the singularity of human existence and the limited interest of a divine being to Earth as these were accepted tenets of faith for many on the planet, and , as a result, would cause mass suicides, hopelessness, and the like.

President Reagon of the U.S. , who had himself witnessed a UAP on at least two occasions, used the concept of the presence, exitance or threat of such alien intrusion into human history as bringing humanity together in a unified front.

At this time in history, the world is highly connected via social media and the internet. Language translation programs abound making it possible to communicate at levels previously unimagined. There is no "universal translator" of Star Trek yet in easy reach but it is coming.

IF Disclosure occurs, I theorize it would occur from the top down.

  • Governments/Leaders
  • Military/ Intelligence
  • Scientists and Educators
  • Social Sciences (Anthropologists, Sociologists, Cultural leaders, Religious leaders)

These would all begin to use media (news, social, movies, music, books, etc.) to transform human thinking to

 a) accept the idea of alien/other worldly existence,

b) present high-ranking professionals who publish, research and present findings that also posit acceptance of such thinking and begin the discussion of acceptable responsive behaviors in social groups (religion, education, cultural awareness, science, etc.),

c) a movement of governments, military, and their media tools to prepare thinking to accept treaties, contacts, inclusion of an alien presence, and

d) then....introductions.

It should be noted that in the last 3-4 years there has been a steady increase in all of these points.

The stigma of the subject has been greatly reduced. Major academic groups and people have seriously addressed the subject and encouraged wide range research of a highly quantifiable style. Rhetoric has shifted from "there was no life on Mars" to the increasing probability that at one time all the components for Earth similar life were there. Telescopes locating deep space planets capable of hosting our own kind of life as well potentially diverse life forms.

Concepts of time, space, and potential travels have greatly shifted from rigidly held "laws" that do not change to a truly scientific body of knowledge that adapts to new information and additional concepts.

So....in several ways "DISCLOSURE" has begun. The question will be: how far will it be allowed to go? How can the inhabitants of planet Earth best address the inevitable encounters that are being heralded?

"Be prepared" - it is not just a slogan but a mindset.

DEALING WITH THE SUBJECT THROUGH ART

The following are attempts to convey through art what a person saw and in one case what was described to them by another witness. Working with this quasi-art therapy approach it has been noted by this researcher that there is often an intense drive to achieve exact representation. Language can fail in seeking to describe colors seen, feelings experienced, and the theme may be developed in several formats and forms as they person attempts to achieve a match to what they saw or what they experienced.

Another Mystery Photo

As a collector of ufology related works, I have two copies of a classic work called  FLYING SAUCERS - SERIOUS BUSINESS by Frank Edwards  (Lyle Stuart, 1966) and a paperback version by Bantam of the same year.

The hardback version published by Lyle Stuart includes a photo of an event labeled as : "One of two photographs of Portland, Indiana, UFO by Robert Kennedy. Object was in view an estimated four minutes. Shown here streaking from a fixed position. Kennedy, police officer Robert Glentser and other witnesses say object traveled in spurts, moved silently. Photo copyright Robert Kennedy.  It is labeled as plate 33 on page 224.

This image did not make it into the paperback version I have.

There is a dearth of information about the photo and no clear mention or discussion of it seem to appear anywhere. It has no date (but must be from prior to 1966, the publication date). Portland is located just north of Muncie, Indiana and northwest of Dayton, Ohio.

Several possibilities present themselves: this is an image of one of the tests involving dispersal of chemicals or inert gases for measuring one thing or another (such as the Barium dispersal).

A test craft, missile, etc.?

If a UFO - - what is the story?

CARL SAGAN: SOME BACKGROUND

He was the handsome face of science in the 1960's - the brash, intelligent, and "with it" face of a younger generation stepping up to receive the mantle of those who  gone before. The schools were bursting with a "youth boom" and colleges were being challenged to house and educate the vast numbers. Add to the government recognition that the US was ranking low in science and math's and the space race challenge took on a more intense focus. Money was pumped into schools and science curriculums.  Step up in a new era of television and film and a focus on "youth" as the answer to the problems....and the gangly young academic struggling to find his own particular square value and worth in his exciting field of astronomy...is suddenly on the scene.  Within two decades he will be the face and  voice of the modern generation as he uses science blended with imagination and poetry to play the piper to lure people into the brave new frontiers of - science.

Many people were more familiar with Sagan from his popular Public Television specials in the 1980's where the term "billions and billions" took on new meaning and the claim we are "star stuff" resonated with a society balancing "New Age" with age-old in a strange juggling act.

Oddly, however, it is in the pages of the newsletter for A.P.R.O. that his name may  have first appeared to those intrigued by the idea of UFO's.  In the 1962-63 files of the newsletter editor-researcher Coral Lorenzen tried to keep abreast of significant events, papers, discussion, and works from many scientific fields. In May of 1962, she wrote that Dr. Carl E. Sagan of the University of California had stated in public that "Mars is the most likely abode of life in our solar system." His comments were part of a "Voice of America" science lecture broadcast.

In the late 1950's and early 1960's , despite public proclamations of the planet being dead, many high level scientists openly discussed and believed just what Sagan proclaimed.

He was identified as one of the few astronomers willing to "extend himself into a discussion of the likelihood of space visitors..."  In November 1962, the astronomer made comments that the Earth might well have been visited many times in the past.  He presented the idea as provisional but was seriously willing to dialogue. (APRO, March 1963).

Reviewing his resume it is learned that in 1960-1962 he was a Miller Fellow in California at a University.  In 1961, he was in a special program at Harvard (where Menzel and Wipple were ensconced). He kept a profile there from 1963-1968; he requested tenure from Harvard but was denied. Then, in 1966, he appears as part of an ad hoc committee reevaluating many UFO cases as part of a government move to express how serious they were (they could point to this work and the approach Condon study as good faith efforts).

Academic life is often harsh and competitive.  Funding is crucial for most research based scientists. In the era of the 1960's-1990's the number one science funding source was the U.S. Government.

As time passes, there may be much more learned about the role scientists played in researching, debunking, and - eventually - disclosing the truth behind the mystery of the UAP's.
